A retaining wall fails from the water behind it, not the load in front of it. That's why every wall we build starts with base prep and engineered drainage — then the blocks go up straight and stay that way.

Retaining wall questions
Do retaining walls need an engineer?
In most Lower Mainland municipalities, walls above about 1.2 metres require engineered drawings. We build to the engineer's spec and handle the base, drainage and backfill correctly either way. If your project needs permits, we'll point you in the right direction — or, if you'd like us to handle it, we can obtain the permits for you.
What wall systems do you build?
Lock-block (large concrete block) walls for heavy grade retention, and segmental block walls for tiered or landscape applications.
Why does drainage matter so much?
Water pressure behind the wall is what pushes walls over. Engineered drainage — gravel, pipe and filter fabric — relieves that pressure and is the difference between decades and a few winters.
